New Information for Parents and Carers

Dear Parents and Carers...

We have been making observations on all of the children in order to plan to meet their individual needs. During the Learning Through Play part of our session (9.15 - 10.40) the children are guided towards activities that are planned to meet their particualr needs. For example, children who would benefit from language support would be guided towards small group activities so that an adult could ensure that they have an opportunity to join in a conversation with other children. The adult would also be able to introduce new words and concepts during the activity. Playdough, clay, puzzles, threading and construction toys are used to help children gain the finger strength and co-ordination that they will require for their future writing skills. Key-Workers are available at the beginning and end of the session to discuss the children's progress. They will also be able to advise you of the activities that have been chosen to meet your child's individual needs.

We have also made some changes to our daily plan. We have decided to introduce an Outside Play session because many of the children do not choose to go outside to play voluntarily. Bats, balls, bean bags, skittles and hoops will be readily available to encourage active play. We will only stay inside during heavy rain so please ensure that your child has outdoor clothes to wear. A copy of our new Daily Plan is on the Parents' Notice Board (on the front door step) for you to read. It is also available on our Kingfisher Pre-School website.

Kind regards,

Maureen Brown Pre-School Leader.
