This Term's Topics

Well, we are just about to start the last half-term of the school year - doesn't time fly!

Our theme for next half-term will be ANIMALS.

WEEK 1: 2nd - 6th June Minibeasts

WEEK 2: 9th - 13th June British animals

WEEK 3: 16th - 20th June Indian Jungle

WEEK 4 23rd - 27th June Sea life

WEEK 5 30th June - 4th July Australian animals

WEEK 6 7th - 11th July African safari

Week 7 will include the end of year animal party on Thursday 17th July .

We hope to have some caterpillars arriving in time for the first week which the children will be able to watch develop and then release the butterflies later in the term.
The children are welcome to bring anything which relates to the weekly theme and they will be able to show it and talk about it to the other children.

Our vegetable garden is going well. We are growing potatoes, purple sprouting (Thanks to Amber's Mum for the seedlings ), French beans, tomatoes and radishes.

Snack time
Currently, the children bring in raw fruit and vegetables, dried fruit, bread sticks and rice cakes. We are going to trial extending the snacks which the children can bring in, to fruit yogurts and low fat cheese with bread stick dips. This is because snacks should compliment the children's meals and so you may feel that as they have had , for example, toast for breakfast, they may need a yogurt for snack time. If, on the other hand, they had milk and cereal for breakfast, then fruit would be a good snack.

Hot weather
We take the children outside unless it is very wet, so please make sure the children have appropriate clothing for outside play including sunhats for hot weather and a layer of suncream.

Children's files
We will be opening the children's files for you to look at towards the end of June - they will be available over several days and you will be able to have a chat with your child's key person at the end of a session if you wish.. Please watch out for a notice nearer the time.
