Story Sacks

We have made selection of "Story Sacks" in order to aid your child's Communication, Language and Literacy development. Research now shows that children with good verbal skills find reading and writing easier.

The sacks are intended for an adult and child to enjoy together. The soft toys or puppets in the sacks are to be used as props during story telling, and hopefully they will encourage the children to use them as they retell the story, or as they make up a story of their own. If the sack contains a CD or a cassette, perhaps you could let your child place them in the relevant piece of audio equipment in order to develop their use of everyday technology.
  We have set up a hire scheme in order to raise money to enable us to make a permanent collection of story sacks for pre-school.  The cost for each sack will be £1.00 per week, with an additional overdue sack charge of 50 pence per day. As you will appreciate the contents of each sack must be returned in good condition. We ask that you replace any damaged items.

The sacks have been fun to make, and we would welcome your suggestions regarding additional topics we could include.   If you would like to make a sack of your own, or help to collect items for the sacks, please speak to a member of the pre-school team.
